Describe your featured media and how it will enhance the user’s life and experience.

Before one can answer this question, we must understand the intended audience of the product of interest. You wouldn’t try enhancing a basketball player’s game with a new golf club. The Music Xray’s target audiences are music producers and artists. Music Xray is able to make the jobs of these groups easier. This product helps give “artists the ability to control, optimize and present essential statistical, analytical, biographical, review and tagging information about their song” using only one host website.

The hardest part about the music industry to date is getting one’s song into the hands of the person that will be able to make it big. Music Xray makes it easier for artists to get their music into the appropriate hands and thus become more successful in their art.  Music Xray ultimately makes searching for artists, specific songs, or songs that fit a certain criteria easy. Soon, artists will also be able to send their songs to qualified experts for advice and analysis.

Outline the elements this invention retrieves from past technologies.

Music Xray uses some of the same elements as many other music hosting web sites and puts these aspects into one site. The site holds similar aspects to that of Youtube and Purevolume, to just list a few. On each song page, any viewer is able to see the mp3 file, lyrics, and artist information. Not only this but key information such as its market potential, current market traction, blog mentions and social network activity. To top this off, each Music Xray page also combines all the best solutions for song submission, song showcasing, basic licensing, song sharing, simple distribution, controlled downloading, professional crosschecking and public commenting.  All data is controlled by song owners, validated through consumption pattern monitoring, and ultimately reviewed by qualified professionals. Outside of the database, Music Xrays can be embedded into any web page, blog, or social network and given out privately.

However, a new aspect that no other music site has that Music Xray has is a powerful music retrieval tool that enables consumers and music industry professionals to easily filter through all of the songs in the database to obtain songs and playlists that match specific filtering criteria. For example, one could search for songs that sound like "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen, have 130 beats per minute, have market potential above 50% in the rock genre and have the words "Russian roulette" in the lyrics and could be isolated to be considered for a specific licensing opportunity.

State what this new media will obsolesce.

Music Xray will make other music hosting sites obsolete along with artists having to go to professional studios to get advice and statistics on their songs. An example would be the program’s ability to monitor marketplace activity trends. Music Xray will have the efficiency to collect statistics directly related to an artist’s identity and songs from the Internet and will be able to present statistics within trend graphs. New artists no longer have to be dependent on managers and talent agents. By themselves they will be able to promote their own songs and handle their own careers. Artists will have the opportunity to put their music into a network that will allow music industry professionals to funnel songs into automated search feeds.

Not only this but also, each and every Music Xray is accessible through a unique and permanent URL. Thus, there is no need for multiple artist pages all over the web. Song owners can now just post all of their personal information, artist notes, song information, Youtube videos, images, and a song player all on one page. Over all, Music Xray is a very organized and efficient way to handle ones music.

Define what factors this invention will reverse when pushed to its outer limit.

This invention will reverse many factors for its users. One of these factors is the demand for recording studios visits. Though, artists will still need to record in studios for high quality sounding tracks, it will reduce the visits needed as artists can now access the same trend charts that the studios use. These graphs can show a variety of things such as market potential, the potential for certain genres, and overall song popularity. Artists who use Music Xray can also access music industry professionals for advice and criticism on their work. This is all data that an artist could pay hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars for. Now, Music Xray users can now access this information without even leaving their house.

Ultimately, Music Xray will also reverse disorganization. Why would someone have videos on Youtube, free mp3 streaming of their songs on Purevolume, and an artist page on Myspace, when they could have all of this information on one Music Xray page? Music Xray provides all the information that a person needs to know about a specific song and artist.
